Buy it on Amazon – (affiliate link)
I am considering upgrading to a new Blackmagic ATEM switcher that lacks HDMI inputs – it only uses serial digital interface connectors (SDI). This of course creates a problem since my studio cameras are all very inexpensive older Canons with only HDMI connectors.
Blackmagic sells their own HDMI to SDI adapters that retail for around $280 – $300. Given that I need at least three of these adapters (possibly four) cost is most certainly an issue here.
So I went in search of alternatives. This one from Orei, which I bought for about $120 on Amazon, seems to work just fine with my 1080i configuration. I haven’t tested audio passthrough just yet but I think it’ll work out fine.
