Ford have released the specs on its yet-to-be-released 2019 Ranger lineup, which includes some decent upgrades for the higher-end models. One of the most notable is the option to include the Ranger Raptor’s beefy 2.0-litre four-cylinder bi-turbo diesel engine in the Ranger XLT and Wildtrak.
The upgrade will allow drivers 500Nm from 1750rpm through the new 10-speed automatic transmission, as opposed to the standard editions, which offer a 3.2-litre engine with a six-speed transmission and 147kW and 470Nm output.
And if you’re into the towing life, both engines allow for a maximum 3500kg capacity.
There are also a number of tech-injections with a safety bent in the 2019 range that are worth noting.
These include pedestrian detection systems, autonomous emergency braking that can bring the vehicle to a complete stop. As well as lane departure warnings, active park assist, forward collision warnings and adaptive cruise control.
And for the first time on the Ranger there will be traffic sign recognition, which as the name suggests, will identify permanent and temporary traffic signs above and to the side of the road. This will trigger an icon of the speed sign on the dash and will change as the speed limit does.
This feature will be standard on the Wilftrak and as part of the Tech Pack on the XLT.
Keyless entry and push-button start will also be included in the range.
We don’t have pricing on the the upgraded XLT and Wildtrak as yet, but keep your eyes peeled closer to the release date, which is pegged for Q3.
